Downers Grove Home Sales Double from Sept. 2012-13

The 54 single, detached homes sold in Downers Grove during September 2013 represented a 100 percent increase over September 2012, when 27 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

There were 67 homes sold in Downers Grove during August 2013.

Median sales prices also went up year over year, increasing 16.2 percent to $347,500 from $299,000 in September 2012, according to the statistics.

In DuPage County, Darien experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year, with Burr Ridge and Downers Grove also seeing big jumps. Burr Ridge  also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 69 percent. 

Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
