How Much Federal Cash Does Illinois Get for Schools?

Illinois receives a lot of federal funding for schools, but do we receive more than any other state?

How much federal funding did Illinois get for its schools? Over $1.4 billion and enough to rank in the top five nationally. Granted, that's total funding and not broken down as funding per school, so Illinois would naturally be much higher on the list than a state such as North Dakota. But it's clear we do get a lot from the federal government for our schools. But do we get the most?

While Illinois is in the top five in that category, it's in the bottom five in state unemployment rate. But there is some good news! Illinois was second-worst in the nation according to February figures, but leapfrogged ahead of Nevada in March. So we're moving on up, but we're still 48th in the country.

Baby steps, baby steps.

We've got a map of the unemployment rates for all 50 states.

Any money spent on our union infested "schools" is wasted.

These schools are quickly becoming feeding troughs for the parasites.

If you want school boards to stop offering cushy pay increases and benefits to teachers, administrators and superintendants you have to plead with legislators to set a pay range band type of scale like the employees for the federal government. As it stands now, many can earn unlimited salaries and increases from their school boards. if school boards start to restrict salaries, teachers are just going to strike and administrators are just going to leave for other districts where the pay is higher. A standrad pay band pay scale will eliminate this. Right now school superintendants are the highest paid government emplyee besides the President of the United States

Our Universities still seem to be doing a top-rate job - Check out University of Chicago Circle Campus and see how many non-American students attend in addition to American students. From ALL over the world. That's Global level education, and they wouldn't come if we weren't good, period. As far as money goes, "privatizing" our public services only has messed things up. Look at the parking fiasco in Chicago. Look at our Lotto system, and where the money went. I agree about writing your congressmen - turn the money flow back to the same percentages again from what we had back in 2001, and tax offshored services so hard working American workers can get their jobs back. That's when taxes will go back to normal levels and become manageable again.
