South High Music Teacher Named 'Outstanding Beginning Teacher'

Second-year teacher Greg Hensel demonstrates abilities and talent of veteran teacher, fine arts department chair says.


Downers Grove South High School teacher Greg Hensel has received an “Outstanding Beginning Teacher Award” from the Illinois Association of Colleges for Teacher Education in Springfield, along with out outstanding beginning teachers from the state of Illinois. 

The association accepts nominations of teachers who are in their second or third year of teaching, and considers feedback about their work and performance. Colleges are eligible to make a nomination of an alumnae every four years; the College of Education at Illinois State University nominated Hensel.

"Although chronologically a beginning teacher, Greg continually displays traits of a seasoned veteran teacher,” says South High Fine Arts Chair Glenn Williams. “We are thrilled to have him as a member of the faculty in the Fine Arts Department."
