Budget, change orders approved at Monday's board meeting.

2011-2012 Budget Approved

The Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the Legal Budget for the 2011-2012 school year. Revenues are expected to be $78,924,000, expenditures $76,047,000. For more information on the budget, click here.

Construction Change Orders Approved

The board also unanimously approved $229,229.50 in construction change orders for the work happening at both and campuses. In large part, the change orders are the result of poor soil at both campuses. The soil is unable to support surface structures, and additional work must be done.

Despite the change orders, the projects are still “well under budget,” said Marty Schack, the director of physical plant and operations for the district.

Public Comment

A resident who lives near Prince Street and Grant Street addressed the board, voicing concerns that traffic after evening events at North is becoming congested and dangerous. The resident also wanted improved communication from the district on construction projects happening near his residence.

Televising Meetings

The board also voted unanimously to approve an action directing the administration to move forward in setting up a plan to televise board meetings.
