DG Students Inducted into Benet Academy National Honor Society

Twenty-one Downers Grove students made the cut.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

On Sunday, May 20th, new officers were installed and 161 students were inducted into the Benet Academy Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS). Students are selected for membership in NHS based upon their outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Students inducted in NHS have met the following requirements:

  • Maintained a grade point average of 88.00% or higher.
  • Maintained a conduct grade of 88% or higher.
  • Performed the required number of service hours: Twelve hours of Benet service for prospective sophomores Eighteen hours of Benet service for prospective juniors
  • Be a current participant in at least one Benet extracurricular activity
  • Submitted a personal essay.
  • Submitted recommendations from a teacher and an outside individual.
  • Had their selection approved by the entire faculty and staff
