DGN to Induct Two into Athletic Hall of Fame

will welcome two new members to its Athletic Hall of Fame Jan. 6.

Elizabeth Tumpach, who graduated in 1998, and Mark Zundel, who graduated in 1991, will both be inducted. 

The induction celebration will be held in the main gym at 7 p.m. after the sophomore boys basketball game.

Elizabeth Tumpach’s accomplishments include:

• All – State Cross Country Team, 1996, 1997
• 4-time All WSC Cross Country Team, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997
• Led North to WSC Cross Country Championship, 1997
• State Track medalist in 3200m, 1998
• 4-time All WSC in Track & Field, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998
• 3-time WSC Conference Champ (3200m) in Track & Field
• Led Loyola University to Conference Championships in 2000, 2001
• All Horizon League Cross Country Team 1998, 1999

Mark Zundel’s accomplishments include:

• All – State Football Team, 1990
• Helped lead North to 2nd in State in Football, 1990
• Helped lead North to WSC Football Championship, 1990
• Selected the WSC Defensive Player of the Year, 1990
• Member of All – WSC Football Team, 1990
• Member of All – WSC Baseball Team, 1991
• Selected as WSC Player of the Year in Baseball, 1991
• Played Varsity Football and Baseball at Brigham Young University

“We are pleased to recognize Elizabeth and Mark for all of their athletic successes and contributions to North High” said North High School Athletic Director Denise Kavanaugh. “We hope the community will come out to help us celebrate and also watch the basketball games.”

The North High Hall of Fame Committee reviews all nominations made, and selects two athletes annually.
