The topic is "Bright-Sided: How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America," by Barbara Ehrenreich. Is the pervasive cultural attitude of optimism good for America or is it a way to brush off poverty, illness, and unemployment, to rationalize an order where all rewards go to those on top? Ehrenreich explores the downside of positive thinking which she believes is at the root of America's social and economic crises.
