How About a Homecoming Soccer Game?
Wisconsin schools are celebrating homecoming with a sport other than football. Could it catch on here?
During a break in the Oct. 2 village budget meeting, a local official (who shall remain nameless at his request) remarked on a practice gaining currency in Wisconsin: alternating between sports for the annual homecoming game.
Why should homecoming be celebrated only with a football game? Why not a varsity soccer game or some other sporting event, he asked.
Why not indeed? Can you picture a homecoming game of soccer? Or is the fall football headliner just too engrained in Downers Grove?
