Lester Families Prepare to 'Run Like Leopards' in Annual Fun Run

The District 58 school will host a family 5K run/walk and 1K kids dash at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.

Kids of all ages are preparing to race their friends, parents and even their teachers at the third annual Lester Fun Run on Sunday.

The fundraising event, sponsored by the Lester School PTA, focuses on encouraging healthy activities among families and students and raises funds towards school improvements.

“This continues to be such an important event for Lester School. It delivers a positive message about enjoying healthy activities as a family and brings together the entire Lester community,” Principal Carin Novak said in a release. “It’s a great way to start the year.”

The run will begin at 9 a.m. with a 1K kids dash around Lester School, 236 Indianapolis Ave., followed by a 5K family fun run/walk.

Lester Physical Education Director, Pat Brown, and All-Star Sports Coach, Josh Porter, will emcee the event. Activities will also include an awards ceremony, door prize giveaways, refreshments provided by titles sponsor Whole Foods Willowbrook, and a music performance by Rock Academy.
