All six DGS runners ran season-best times on the 3-mile Detweiller Park course.  Freshman Amanda Thate led the team with an individual fourth place finish and new school 3-mile record time of 17 minutes and 13 seconds.  Junior Katie Strelau placed 14th with a time of 17:47 and Senior Jacquelyn Thate placed 28th with a time of 18:07.

Junior Amy Rotunno was 44th in 18:27, Junior Katrina Friedrich was 54th in 18:35 and Senior Cara Wicklein was 71st in 18:51. It was a great effort by the entire team and a good step toward the team goal of qualifying for the IHSA State meet, according to Coach Doug Plunkett.

Also on Saturday, DGS sent the remainder of the team to compete at the Niles West Invite. Freshman Abby Kargol and Sophomore Meredith Robinson led DGS to a fourth-place finish out of 16 teams in the varsity race with their own individual top 10 finishes (6th and 9th). The Frosh/Soph team placed second out of 16 teams, led by Mary Biene, Ally Hietpas, and Hannah Anderson who finished first, second and sixth place respectively.
