Chicago Thunder Semi-Pro Football Kicks Off Season in Downers Grove

The Thunder will take on the Indianapolis Stallions at 7 p.m. Saturday at Downers Grove South High School.

The Chicago Thunder, a team in the semi-professional MidStates Football League, will play their first game Saturday in Downers Grove, their new home for the 2013 season.

The Thunder will play four home games this season at Downers Grove South High School, beginning with their opener against the Indianapolis Stallions at 7 p.m. Saturday.

They won their first regular season game last week against the Joliet Buccaneers by a score of 36-6.

Tickets for home games in Downers Grove cost $7 for adults and $4 for kids. Free admission will be granted to students who bring their report cards, police officers, firefighters, and servicemen and women.

The Chicago Thunder Football Club was established in 1991 and is one of 20 organizations from Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin that compete in the MidStates Football League.

Since 1991, the Thunder have won 10 league championships and two national titles, one in 2007 and the other in 2008.
