The Downers Grove South dance team finished in seventh place after competing Saturday in the Class 3A state finals at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, according to the Illinois High School Association website.
There were 90 total teams that competed in the prelims at the state meet in the Class 1A, 2A and 3A divisions from across Illinois on Friday. The top ten teams in each division, including Downers Grove South, advanced to the final round on Saturday, according to the IHSA website.
Lake Park High School in Roselle finished in first place in the class 3A competition while Barrington High School finished in second place and Stevenson High School finished in third.
Downers Grove South finished first in their sectional championship. This is the second year in a row the team competed at state.
