DGS Girls Cross Country

The Downers Grove South girls cross country team competed in the Fenton ‘Earlybird’ Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 1.  The varsity team placed third out of 20 teams. Sophomore Amanda Thate was the top finisher for the Mustangs coming into the chute in ninth place. Senior Katie Strelau and junior Haley Albers were the next scorers, finishing in 12th and 13th place, respectively. Senior Amy Rotunno finished 21st, and junior Meaghan Bosman finished 25th to round out the scoring places. 

Sophomore Abby Kargol and junior Meredith Robinson also competed for DGS.  Highly ranked Lake Park took first place with 47 points, followed by (77) and Downers Grove South (80).

DGS Sophomore Boys Golf

The DGS sophomore boys golf team defeated Leyden at Village Greens in Woodridge. The team shot a season best 169. Medalist for the match was Jon Krupa with a personal best 35. Other top scorers were Matt Rekstad (40), Ben Ficht (46) and Peter Hamot and Patrick Reeg (48).
