Football: Downers Grove South Falls to South Elgin

 lost a nail biter Saturday afternoon, falling 48-35 to South Elgin in the season opener for both teams.

The Mustangs were trailing 14-7 going into the second half, before the Storm offense—led by junior quarterback Robert Cuda—exploded for 34 points.

Cuda went 16 for 30 with 251 yards in the game, while senior Joe Crivolio posted 123 yards on seven catches.

Downers Grove quarterback Mike Zebold, who started the second half, finished 7 for 13 with 177 yards. Senior receiver Kaylon Miller had five catches for 206 yards.

The Mustangs will host Lyons Township (0-1) next week for their first home game of the season.
