Downers Grove Celebrates Independence Day

Check out photos and video from the 2013 Fourth of July parade in downtown Downers Grove.

Downers Grove residents lined Main Street on Thursday for the village's annual Fourth of July parade.

Participating organizations included the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Daughters of the American Revolution, Downers Grove Roadrunners Soccer Club, Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club, Panther Junior Football and Cheer, and several troops from the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.

Downers Grove Mayor Martin Tully and village commissioners also walked the parade, as well as State Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) and U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL).

The state champion South High School boys volleyball team served as the parade's grand marshal. Miss Illinois Teen USA Grayson Hodgkiss, a student at South High, also made an appearance.

Entertainment was provided during the parade by WBBM-FM/B96, the District 99 band, DLD Dance Center, among others.
