Downers Grove Hosts Annual Fourth of July Parade, Fireworks

Festivities will kick off with a parade at 12:45 p.m. Thursday in downtown Downers Grove.

The village of Downers Grove is celebrating Independence Day on Thursday with its annual parade and fireworks show.

Festivities will kick off with the Fourth of July parade, which commences at 12:45 p.m. from Main and Grant streets. The floats will travel south on Main Street, ending at Warren Avenue.

Organizations scheduled to participate include the Downers Grove Fire Department, the state champion Downers Grove South High School boys volleyball team, Miss Illinois Teen USA Grayson Hodgkiss, Diveheart, the Knights of Columbus, Daughters of the American Revolution, Downers Grove Roadrunners Soccer Club, Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club, Panther Junior Football and Cheer,  and several troops from the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.

Entertainment will be provided during the parade by WBBM-FM/B96, the District 99 band, DLD Dance Center, Rock Academy and more.

Downers Grove will again team up with the village of Woodridge for a joint firework display. The show will begin at 9:30 p.m. at 75th Street and Lemont Road.
