Downers Grove Lions Club Hosts Annual 'Labor of Love' 5K

The race will be held Monday, Sept. 2, at McCollum Park, 6801 Main St. All proceeds will support the Lions' various service projects.

The Downers Grove Lions Club will once again celebrate the Labor Day holiday with its annual "Labor of Love."

The fifth annual Labor of Love 5K race/walk will be held at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at McCollum Park, 6801 Main St. The race will be followed by a 1K for children ages 10 and under at 9:15 a.m.

The 5K is fully certified by the Chicago Area Runners Association, and will be professionally timed.

Registration is $30 for adults ($25 for CARA members), and $23 for kids 16 and under. The 1K is $15 for kids. Families with five or fewer participants may register together for $85.

Runners who register on race day will be charged an additional $5.

All proceeds from Labor of Love will support the Downers Grove Lions' various service projects.

  • 6:30 a.m.: On-site registration
  • 8 a.m.: 5K race

Timing
The 5K run is timed by Race Time computerized technology, providing an accurate time from start to finish line.

Awards
Awards will be given to the top three finishers.

Results
Results will be posted on CARA, Chicago Athlete Magazine and Race Time websites within four hours after the race.

Weather Policy
The Labor of Love 5K will take place rain or shine. If the Lions are required to cancel the event due to dangerous weather conditions, announcements will be made on race day near the start/finish area.
