Adults Can Ring in Holiday Season During the Park District's Annual Holiday Party
The Downers Grove Park District Active Adult Center presents the Annual Holiday Party from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Lincoln Center.
The Downers Grove Park District Active Adult Center presents the Annual Holiday Party from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Ave.
Attendees are invited to celebrate the joy of the season with this year’s theme: Peace on Earth.
Feast on a menu catered by DuPage Inn while enjoying the holiday entertainment.
All party-goers are entered in a drawing for gifts provided by local businesses.
The program is for adults, and $18 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

• Wine Dinner: Lemon Tree Grocer & Heritage Wine Cellars presents a Charles Smith wine dinner Wednesday, Dec. 4. Attendees can dine on a five course dinner with five wines from Washington State. A reception begins at 6:30 p.m. The dinner is at 7 p.m. The fee is $75 a person, plus tax and gratuity. Limited seating. RSVP at Derek@LemonTreeGrocer.com.• Blue Christmas Service: St. Paul's United Church of Christ will host the annual Blue Christmas Service, which will include prayers, Bible readings, and music that focuses on the hope and healing that God offers, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 5739 Dunham Road, Downers Grove.
• Gingerbread House Party: Kids and families are invited to play architect for day by creating gingerbread houses. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at SWA Architects, 911 Rogers St., Downers Grove. There is no cost. All materials to design, build, and decorate the gingerbread house will be provided along with treats, candy and beverages. Photos of each gingerbread house will be posted in the office during the holiday season but kids can get to take their houses with them. Parents must remain with their children at all times. There are prizes for all entries, along with the opportunity to win a Toy's R Us gift card. Participants will leave with a treat bag. Judging for grand prize(s) will begin at 3 p.m.. Winners will be contacted after the event by the method of their choosing and prizes can be mailed out or available for pick-up the following week. • Lester Holly Days Holiday Bazaar: The event will be held from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Lester School, 236 Indianapolis Ave., Downers Grove. Hosted by Lester Elementary and the Lester School PTA, Holly Days will feature nearly 30 local vendors, a kids craft area, raffles for adults and kids, mini manicures and chair massages, $5 haircuts for children and adults, food and drink, complimentary gift wrapping, entertainment and free goodie bags to the first 50 guests.
