Downers Grove Commission to Tackle Neighborhood Traffic Study
Also this week: School board and village council meetings, the park district's final summer concert and a movie in the park.
The Downers Grove Transportation and Parking Commission will meet on Wednesday to continue discussing traffic issues in the neighborhood bounded by Ogden Avenue to the north, Main Street to the east, Warren Avenue to the south and Lee Avenue to the west.
The village recently completed Neighborhood Traffic Study #2, which will help staff make physical and operational recommendations that will improve intersection controls, address parking and access needs, and minimize the potential for accidents.
The parking commission will pick up from its June 19 meeting, when they began discussing the results of the study. They will also discuss input provided by residents, according to village officials.

Indian Boundary YMCA Annual End of Summer Bash: The annual End of Summer Bash will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at 711 59th St. in Downers Grove. The event will feature hot dogs and hamburgers, facility tours, program demonstrations, family fun and the opportunity to meet the new YMCA Sports Director, Aaron Towler.
Downers Grove Council Meeting: The Downers Grove Village Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave. To submit opinions about this week's agenda, visit www.downers.us.
Family Concert Series: The Downers Grove Park District's final family concert of the summer will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial Pavilion in Fishel Park, located on Grove Street west of Main Street. This week's concert will feature the Flat Cats, a band that plays vintage and modern music rooted in swing, jazz, blues and contemporary classics.
Movie in the Park: The Downers Grove Park District will screen "E.T." during its "Movie in the Park" event Thursday. The movie starts at 8:30 p.m. in Fishel Park, 1036 Grove St., and is free for the public. Popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase.
Classic Car Show: The Summer Nights Classic Car Show will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in downtown Downers Grove. This week's show will feature police, fire and emergency vehicles. Entertainment will be provided by Bobby K and Steve, a band that performs rock covers.
