Friends of the Library to Host Costa Rica Travel Program Friday

Attendees will learn about the mountains, volcanoes, and tropical beaches that reveal the biodiversity of Central America's most peace-loving country.

The Downers Grove Friends of the Library will host a travel program on Costa Rica at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in the meeting room at the Downers Grove Library, 1050 Curtiss St.

The program will be presented by Friends of the Library Board Member Mary Lou Rauh. Registration is not required.

Refreshments provided.

This is the last “Adventures in Travel” program for 2013.

• Diabetes Screening: Edward Hospital and State Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) are jointly sponsoring a free diabetes screening for the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Downers Grove Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Road. The screening consists of a finger-stick blood glucose test, and a two-hour fast is recommended. No appointment is needed for the free diabetes screening. For questions or more information, call Rep. • Practice SAT Test: Students in seventh grade through senior year of high school can take a practice ACT test from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Downers Grove Public Library.
