Holiday Vendor Night Fundraiser for Downers Grove South Band

Attendees can use the opportunity to shop a selection of gifts from various vendors and crafters.

The Downers Grove South Mustang Band Boosters are hosting a Holiday Vendor Night from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in the Downers Grove South cafeteria, 1436 Norfolk St.

Attendees can use the opportunity to shop a selection of gifts from various vendors and crafters.

Funds from the evening will used to offset the costs for the trip to march in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

Taste the Holidays: The Downers Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry's "Taste the Holidays" event will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Chamber Atrium, 2001 Butterfield Road, in Downers Grove. Attendees will be able to sample some of area's best restaurants, including Egg Harbor Cafe, Emmett's Ale House, The Patio, and Carlucci among others, as well as refreshments, music and gift card giveaways. Tickets are $10 for pre-registration, or $15 at the door. Father/Son Paper Airplane Creations: Fathers and sons are invited to spend an afternoon creating paper airplanes from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Downers Grove Park District Museum, 831 Maple Ave. Attendees will learn different folding methods and see how far their planes fly. This class is for one adult and one child. No siblings please. The program is for children ages 5 years old and up and an adult. Used Book Collection: The Downers Grove Area Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold their next bimonthly collection of used books from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the front of Eagle Storage at 555 Rogers St., Downers Grove. Paperbacks, hard covers, and textbooks published after 2007 will be accepted. All donations are tax deductible. The books collected will be sold at the 54th annual Used Book Sale June 18-21, at Henry Puffer School in Downers Grove. Proceeds benefit education through scholarships and research.

Ladies Night Out: A free Ladies Night Out will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Lemon Tree Grocer 935 W. Burlington Ave., Downers Grove. The evening will include drink specials, small plate options, vendors, raffles and more. RVSPs are required to derek@lemontreegrocer.com.
