Live Wreath and Christmas Tree Sale to Benefit Boy Scouts

It's not too late to get some of that real "spruce" scent filling up your home.


It's not too late if you've decided to go real instead of fake. Residents can shop a live wreath and Christmas tree sale this week, held at St. Mary of Gostyn, 445 Prairie Ave. 

Proceeds support Boy Scout Troop 89. Hours are Monday through Friday, 6 to 9 p.m. Every day through Dec. 20.

Out-U-Go! Downers Grove is holding its annual Hands for Paws Donation Drive to benefit the West Suburban Humane Society. If you would like to contribute to this year's drive, please contact Out-U-Go! Historical Society Ornament Sale: 
The Historical Society will be selling its annual ornaments, featuring the library circa 1920, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtiss St. The $15 ornaments can be purchased at a table in the north lobby.

Christmas Cantata "Night of the Father's Love": On Saturday, Dec. 21, don't miss this show featuring local musicians including singers, strings and piano. This beautiful work will tell the Christmas story in a very inspiring way. Clean Out Your Closet for a Good Cause: The village will be collecting gently used coats and winter accessories for all ages. Last date for donation is Jan. 13, 2014. 

Drop boxes will be located in the lobbies of:
  • Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave.
  • Police Department, 825 Burlington Ave.
  • Public Works, 5101 Walnut Ave.
All items collected will be donated to Sharing Connections to benefit those in need in the community.

The coat drive is organized by the VOICE Committee, a voluntary group of village employees with the goal of supporting humanitarian efforts in the organization and the Downers Grove community.
