Downers Grove Football Teams Kick Off 2013 Season

The Trojans will travel to Lockport Township, while the Mustangs host Benet Academy.

Downers Grove North and South high schools will officially kick off the 2013 football season Friday.

The Trojans will travel to Lockport Township, 1333 E. 7th St., for a 7:30 p.m. game, while the Mustangs host Benet Academy at 7:30 p.m. at South High, 
1436 Norfolk St.

Downers Grove South finished the 2012 season with a 4-5 record. Downers Grove North finished the season 7-5, and earned a playoff berth for the first time since 2008.

Final Car Show: The Summer Nights Classic Car Show will wrap up its 2013 season Friday. The show will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m in downtown Downers Grove. This week's show will feature convertibles and 2013 trophy winners. Entertainment will be provided by Eric Totherow of Crash, who will perform covers from the '90s through today.

Downtown Downers Grove Market: The Downtown Downers Grove Market is held every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., through Oct. 19. The market, located in the Main Street Metra Station's south parking lot, features a variety of produce, fresh bread and pastries, coffees and other specialty foods. For more information, visit www.ymcachicago.org/indianboundary.

Labor of Love 5K: The fifth annual Labor of Love 5K race/walk will be held at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at McCollum Park, 6801 Main St. The race will be followed by a 1K for children ages 10 and under at 9:15 a.m. All proceeds from Labor of Love will support the Downers Grove Lions' various service projects.
