Homestead's Rooftop Staying Open for Year-Round Dining

Dining Destination: A great meal at the end of a long drive for those special "get-out-of-town" occasions.

There may still be a few al fresco nights of dining left before Chicago truly enters fall, but the change in weather will no longer mean the end of the dining season at the popular Homestead on the Roof restaurant in Chicago’s Ukranian Village.

Homestead, at 1924 W. Chicago Ave., is a true farm-to-table restaurant, with a farm and hanging gardens on the roof supplying the chef’s ingredients.

In the past, the outdoor-only restaurant closed as the weather turned cold. But this year, the trendy spot is staying open year round thanks to a glass and steel enclosure, the Chicago Tribune reports. There will also be a fireplace on the patio area for adventuresome — and bundled up — cold weather customers.
