St. Mary of Gostyn Church Hosts 5K Run/Walk

Looking for something to do in Downers Grove this weekend? Here's a look at some of the scheduled events:

Downers Grove North Fundraiser: The Downers Grove North High School Parents Club will host a fundraiser Friday to kick off the 2013-14 school year. The event, "Get Out of the Red and into the Purple," will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight at the American Legion, 4000 Saratoga Ave. The cost is $20 per person. The fundraiser will feature food, a cash bar, music and auctions. Proceeds will help support student scholarships, grants, assemblies, guest speakers and post-prom activities.

Classic Car Show: The Summer Nights Classic Car Show will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in downtown Downers Grove. This week's show will feature corvettes. Entertainment will be provided by Bob Hartwell, who will perform acoustic rock covers.

Downtown Downers Grove Market: The Downtown Downers Grove Market is held every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., through Oct. 19. The market, located in the Main Street Metra Station's south parking lot, features a variety of produce, fresh bread and pastries, coffees and other specialty foods. For more information, visit www.ymcachicago.org/indianboundary.

St. Mary of Gostyn 5K: St. Mary of Gostyn Catholic School and Parish, 440 Prairie St., is hosting a 5K run/walk and 1-mile youth race on Saturday. The 5K begins at 8 a.m., with the youth race to follow at 9:15 a.m. The cost is $30 for adults and $15 for kids 14 and younger. For more information, visit www.stmarygostyn.org.

NICU Reunion: Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, 3815 Highland Ave., is hosting its 20th annual NICU reunion from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. More than 600 are expected to attend the event, which reunites former patients and families with doctors, nurses and hospital staff. For more information, call 630-275-5900.
