Where to Cheer on Chicago Marathoners, See the Stanley Cup This Weekend

3 Things to Do in Chicago: Tips for Sunday's marathon viewing, a visit from the Stanley Cup and stand-up by the Daily Show's John Oliver.

Cheer on Chicago marathoners

Sunday is the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. If you want to cheer on a loved one or get a vicarious fitness thrill from watching the tired, sweaty masses run by, check out this interactive map of viewing spots around the city. If you’re heading to the race, remember that security has been beefed up this year in light of the bombing at the Boston Marathon, so you may not get as close to the race as in years past.

To cheer virtually, you can sign up here to get text messages for specific runners sent to you, or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

See the Stanley Cup

The Field Museum is hosting the Stanley Cup Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the aptly named Stanley Field Hall. You can get your picture taken with the trophy and meet Tommy Hawk on one of the cup’s last stops before it returns home to Toronto. Photo ops will stop promptly at 1 p.m. so make sure you get there early if you want to take a picture.
