On Sunday, September 22, 2013 the (2 – 1) Westmont Wildcats Jr. Pee Wee football team played their home opener against the Plainfield Prowlers who they defeated 20 – 12, just two weeks earlier. Both teams started the game with 2 failed offensive possessions. However, this rematch would not be nearly as close as the previous game they played as the Westmont Wildcats would totally destroy Plainfield 33–0. Midway through the 1st quarter the Wildcat offense took the field. Running back Joshua Lumpkin (14-130, 9.29 per carry average, 2 extra points) exploded for an astounding 38 yard run with outstanding blocks by tight end Cameron VanHoegarden (1 tackle) and offensive tackle Gabe Lischalk. The drive was capped off by a 1 yard sneak by superstar quarterback Mason Pardy. Pardy took advantage of the devastating blocks by offensive guards Rahshon Murff and Nicolas Gerbasi and center Riley Dorsey to give Westmont a 6 – 0 lead. When the Prowler offense took the field they looked to counter the scoring drive of the Wildcats but linebacker Jonta Glanville (2 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery) and nose guard Zach Gacek (1 tackle, 2 forced fumbles) crushed the Plainfield center and quarterback to force a fumble which was recovered by linebacker Elvin Simpson (6 tackles, 1 tackle for -4, 2 fumble recoveries). Simpson would later receive the Hitman award as the team’s best defender in the game.

When the Wildcat offense took the field, running back Eddie Mills blew by the Prowler defense for a 34 yard touchdown run (4-82, 20.50 pca 2 touchdowns). Lumpkin would slam over the end zone to add in an extra point to give the Wildcats a 13 – 0 lead. When the Wildcat defense got back on the field they resembled a brick wall. Defensive tackle Trevor Hillard, defensive end Chaz Hunter (1 tackle), corner back Daniel Janas (1 tackle) and linebacker Mills (4 tackles, 1 for -5 yards and a fumble recovery) stopped the Prowlers’ every attempt. Mills would later receive the Coach’s Award for his outstanding game performance. With a few minutes remaining in the second quarter Pardy threw a laser-like pass to tight end Janas for a 65 yard touchdown giving the Wildcats a 19 – 0 halftime lead. The Wildcats started the 3rd quarter by receiving the ball and quickly punched it into the end zone with a 38 yard scamper by running back Eddie Mills who scored untouched, thanks to outstanding blocks by Murff, Pardy and fullback Hunter (7 carries for 11 yards). Murff would later receive the Tank award as the team’s best blocker in the game. Lumpkin blasted in the extra point giving the Wildcats a 26 – 0 lead. When the Wildcat offense took the field for the 2nd time it started their possession. Quarterback Cory Kinnunen gave the ball to running back Amari Gilford for a nice gain (3 carries for 8 yards) led by the blocking of fullback Cameron Wanda (3-3 yards), running back Corey Sartin, offensive tackle Jaylin Simms, tight end Camden Hubeny, offensive guard Seth Coyle, offensive tackle Ian Coyle and tight end Zane Thibodeaux. Unfortunately this would be the lone highlight of this drive as the following 3 plays all stalled out. Despite this defensive stand, the Prowler offense continued to struggle as Pardy (2 tackles, 1 interception returned for 15 yards) kept the ball throwing. Quarterback Pardy (1 pass for 65 yards and a passing touchdown, 7 carries for 23 yards, 2 rushing touchdowns) would keep the Wildcat offense in high gear as he would later run into the end zone for Westmont’s fifth touchdown of the day. Fullback Hunter would slam into the end zone for the extra point giving the Wildcats a 33 – 0 victory over the Prowlers and sole possession of first place in the Blue Division of the Chicagoland YFL. On September 29, 2013 the Westmont Wildcats Jr. Pee Wee team has their Homecoming game against the strong Bridgeport Huskies at noon at Westmont High School.
