My condolences to Hunter's family. My famly didn't know him, but both my 13 and 7 year old boysRead More are in the same Ide/Prairieview/Lakeview school system. We all went to a few fundraiser events for him that hopefully helped the situation at least a little bit. I will always remember the fateful night when Hunter was hit. I was driving home, saw a police car blocking Lemont Rd. at 83rd St., and glanced further south down Lemont Rd. to see perhaps a dozen police cars with their lights flashing. My heart sank as I feared that something terrible had happened where my grandmother lives - a few doors down from Beller & Lemont. Due to the proximity to my grandmother's home, I drove through the neighborhood around the police blockade to check it out. It was dark and I couldn't get close enough to see clearly, but I saw a pickup truck with what appeared to be a bike stuck well underneath it. The crowd of spectators and I hoped that no one was seriously hurt (Hunter and the driver were already removed from the scene by that time). Sadly, we now know the whole horrific story. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back to 2/26/12 and be standing there to stop Hunter from riding into the crosswalk. Hunter's memory will be with our family forever. When we walk or bike through intersections and stop at crosswalks when driving, we're all going to think about him and be more careful in every way.

I never knew him .. he was in a grade above ours . Although I saw him pass in the hallways every nowRead More and then . I had went to support him every time there was an event . Hunter, I know this may be a late response to your incident, but I would like to say, you seemed a nice guy . I hope you're at peace now . Now, at your old middle school which I am still at, we are doing all of these safety tips, still . My best wishes to the Himes family . The whole LVJHS has had hope for Hunter since day 1 until the last .

BJ was a driving force in the parenting group PACES which gave local new moms a wealth of friendsRead More and connections in the late 1980s. She brought vitality, sincere concern, and the most infectious sense of humor to all that she did. I can't believe she won't be there with an effusive greeting when we all walk into Consider It Done. A great gal who will long be remembered.

Mrs. Boyd leaves an enormous void in the hearts of everyone that was fortunate to know her. GrowingRead More up with her kids, Nick and Annie, I'll never forget how Mrs. Boyd was always quick with a kind word and a hug. When I lost my mom three years ago to an illness, Mrs. Boyd was always at the ready to bring over dinner for our family or help in any way she could. Mr. Boyd, Nick, and Annie, please know you are in my prayers during this time. Let me know how I can help as you grieve. Danny Biederman Chicago, Illinois

I'm very sad to have just heard the news of BJ's passing. I didn't know BJ well, but she always cameRead More by my booth at the Chicago Market where I was selling my wares to pick up some things for her shop. You see a lot of people in my line of business, but she stood out in many ways. I missed her at the show this past summer but had no idea it was because she was sick. Prayers to her family and friends. Bert Anderson Lincoln, NE

BJ made me look like a great gift giver because she had the best store and always took the time toRead More talk to you about what you needed. She always had a moment to talk and could always make me smile. Her store brought a smile to my face every time I walked in. I am blessed to have known you BJ and I pray for your family at this time.

i am a rep...BJ was such a joy to work with. Her shop is her home and she welcomed her guests, eachRead More and everyone with such generous spirit and that wonderful smile. I'll miss sharing new products for her to laugh at and enjoy. Just last January during the busy Chicago Gift show BJ insisted that she and I put on the horse and unicorn masks to surprise and lift spirits of a co worker who was mourning the loss of a friend. Always uplifting, always positive and eager for a laugh. God Bless you BJ, my prayers and condolences are with your family.
