Dixie from Dixieland is a Brainy Pup, Needs a Home

This girl has come a long way from being a stray in Alabama, and she'd love a permanent home her in Chicagoland!

The following Adopt Me! information is provided by A Caring Place: Yep, she came from Dixieland so we named her Dixie!  This absolute cutie is most likely a Brittany Spaniel mix; she has a gorgeous, plush coat of fur and weighs around 35-40 pounds. Dixie gets along well with other dogs and is also OK with cats. This sweet, sweet girl was picked up as a stray and brought to an Alabama pound where A Caring Place rescued her.  Dixie is just over one year old now and is quite the little smarty! Not only is she completely housebroken, but Dixie learned to ring a bell when she has to go out to potty. She knows several commands and is crate trained. Dixie would LOVE a big yard to run around in and another dog to play with. Because Dixie is still …

Collie/Lab Firley Needs Your Nurture

This hardy pooch has survived abuse and cancer, and is now a low-key, timid guy looking for the right companion.

The following Adopt Me! information is provided by A Caring Place: Introducing FIRLEY, a Border Collie/Labrador mix who is approximately 6-7 years old and about 50 pounds. Firley was rescued from Chicago’s Animal Care and Control late in 2012; he was very scared and timid at the shelter but has really made significant progress with his foster mom. From what we have witnessed, Firley was most likely mistreated or abused prior to his rescue; therefore, he requires a special adopter who will continue to nurture Firley. Firley loves to run around in the yard and when inside will chew on a bone for a bit and then nap. He is really pretty “low key” and would make an ideal companion for a more calm and quiet household. Although it has taken some …

One-Year-Old Beagle Pup Jagger Up for Adoption

This little guy is looking for an owner as active and energetic as he is, preferably with a fenced yard for him to run in.

The following Adopt Me! information is provided by A Caring Place: Introducing JAGGER, a really cute, very active, and loving male Beagle pup who is approximately 10-12 months old and 25 pounds. Jagger loves to play with toys and is enthusiastic and full of energy, so daily walks (or runs) and playtime are necessary. In addition, Jagger really enjoys playing with other dogs so he would do best in a home with another dog(s) with whom he could play. With his young age and energy level, Jagger would do best with an active person or household,  perhaps a jogger, speed walker, or similar. Because he is a hound, Jagger requires a safely fenced yard since he is prone to catching the scent of something and his instincts encourage him to seek it …

Find a Home for Fetch-Loving Gino

This frisky mutt likes other dogs, behaves on a leash, returns when called and learns quickly. Could you give him a home?

The following Adopt Me! information is provided by A Caring Place: GINO is a 25 pound, 5 year old mixed breed dog who is likely a Cairn Terrier mix. Gino loves to play fetch with any toy or ball, loves to snuggle into a bedding spot and hang out. He seems well mannered in the home as well as housebroken. Gino appears to be ok with other dogs in addition to his brother. This little guy doesn’t seem to ask for a whole lot - is happy to see you when you return to the home, gladly bringing you a toy and wagging his whole body, enjoying a loving pet from his foster. He wants to be in the same room with his foster mom, but doesn’t pester or fuss. Outside Gino “protects” his yard by barking at potential intruders and little furry critters. He …

Sweet Sadie Is a Pooch Looking For a Calm Household

This adorable mutt would love a home with adults or older children and another dog to play with... could that be yours?

The following Adopt Me! information is provided by A Caring Place: Introducing SADIE, a shy but loving mixed breed dog who is around 1 ½ years old and approximately 47 pounds. At best guess, Sadie is a Terrier mix but she could be a German Wirehaired Pointer mix or even Giant Schnauzer mix. Her coat is a combination of soft and slightly bristly with the cutest tufting on her head. Sadie is smart, treat motivated, and has a desire to please so she learns basic commands quickly and easily. Sadie is very sweet, with a calm disposition when in the home. She enjoys laying by her foster mom for some down time to receive petting and cuddling time. It does appear that Sadie was previously mistreated so she approaches new people cautiously; she …

I have a doodle and I would swear that Sadie is a Labradoodle! The description of her and her activities describe them perfectly! She will be the best pet a person could ever hope for, they love to please, they only know affection. I hope somebody worthy of Sadie will be granted to be her forever mom or dad.   more ›

Shepherd Mix Destiny Needs A Special Home

This friendly dog spent the first six months of her life in caged neglect; could you give her the life and love she never had from her first owners?

The following Adopt Me! information is provided by A Caring Place: SPECIAL ADOPTER REQUIRED: This 1-½ year old, 55-60 pound Shepherd mix is Destiny. She lives with her foster dad and his Great Danes; her best friend and play buddy is Essie whom she spends most of their time with roughhousing and playing chase in the yard once her foster dad is home from work. In the home, Destiny is well mannered and calm. She is very loving and devoted to her foster dad, and seeks out his attention and approval. Destiny is housebroken and kennel-trained. Destiny is considered special-needs because she “lived” the first six months of her life in a cage without human and other dog interaction. This neglect has caused Destiny to have some behavior challenges…
