A 65-year-old woman was struck around 2:41 p.m. Wednesday near Lemont Road in Darien, causing significant traffic delays on southbound I-55, police said.
A 65-year-old woman was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a garbage truck while standing outside her vehicle on Interstate 55 near Darien. Police said the woman got out of her car after pulling over on the shoulder of southbound I-55, just north of Lemont Road, around 2:41 p.m., and was partially in the right lane of traffic when she was struck by a garbage truck. The woman was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where she is listed in critical condition, according to an officer with the Illinois State Police District 2. Incident occurred on Thursday, June 21 at 10:26 a.m. on 63rd Street.
A rollover accident involving two cars on Thursday, June 21 sent both drivers to the hospital, according to police. The accident occured in the 1400 block o 63rd Street at 10:26 a.m. when an eastbound vehicle drifted into the westbound traffic, left the roadway momentarily before returning and colliding with a car heading west. The eastbound car, driven by a 22-year-old woman, rolled over during the collision. Both the woman and the driver of the westbound car, a 68-year-man, were injured and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. According to police, the 22-year-old woman may have fallen asleep while driving.

Police say man tried to run across the road when he was struck by two cars.
Updated: 10:15 a.m. A 29-year-old man was struck and killed Wednesday, Oct. 8 as he ran across Butterfield Road just west of Route 53. Downers Grove police said the man, Antonio Cirilo of Wheaton had tried to enter the PADS shelter at Peace Lutheran Church, 21W500 Butterfield Road. After he was denied entry for violating the rules, Cirilo became upset and ran across the road, said Sgt. David Bormann of the DGPD. Cirilo was struck by an eastbound car at approximately 7:21 p.m. The impact pushed the pedestrian into the path of a second car. Officers arrived at the scene at 7:23 p.m. and the man was pronounced dead at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
