Group Demands Firing of Ex-Priest, Now Counselor, Accused of Sex Abuse

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests called on the Archdiocese of Chicago Thursday to take action against ex-priest Russell L. Romano.

Members of SNAP—Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests—want Russell L. Romano to be fired.  Romano, who currently lives in Bolingbrook, works as a counselor for Advocate Health Care in the Illinois Professional Heath Program in Des Plaines, according to SNAP. He is listed on the Archdiocese of Chicago website as a priest with "substantiated allegations of sexual misconduct with minors."  Romano was ordained in 1973 and laicized in May 2009, according to the site. In July 2009, it was revealed that Romano left the church in 1991 after three boys reported abuse, according to ABC. Romano was then serving at St. Barbara's in Brookfield. This guy is no longer associated with (employed by) the Church, why should it have the responsibility of overseeing his actions going forward...... Snap should focus its outrage on the State of IL for giving this guy a license and Advocate for giving him a job.   more ›

Advocate Health Care Moving Corporate HQ to Downers Grove

Advocate, the state's largest health system, will relocate its Oak Brook and Touhy support centers to 3075 Highland Parkway this spring, officials announced Friday.

Advocate Health Care, the state’s largest health system, is moving its corporate headquarters from Oak Brook to Downers Grove. Advocate will move about 600 employees to Highland Landmark I, a seven-story building at 3075 Highland Parkway. The company will occupy three and a half floors by late spring, Advocate officials said in a statement. Officials said they will relocate two system support centers to Downers Grove, one from Oak Brook and the other from Park Ridge. Advocate recently decided to create a new centralized business office (CBO) at its current campus, 2025 Windsor Drive in Oak Brook.
