Downers Grove Patch is pleased to announce Main Street U, a free, two-hour event designed to teach business owners how to improve their online connection to the community. Business owners will learn how to take better advantage of social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter, with a workshop delivered by Patch staffers on how to add your own content to the online conversation. RSVP by filling out the form posted above to attend Main Street U, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Ballydoyle Irish Pub & Restaurant. Appetizers will also be provided.

Andrew Salgado will be bringing his country music stylings to the stage at the Irish pub in downtown Downers Grove.
Music lovers have the opportunity to hear from one of their own Friday night. Darien native and Downers Grove South grad, Andrew Salgado takes the stage at Ballydoyle Irish Pub in downtown Downers Grove from 8:30 p.m. Friday until midnight. Salgado has been delighting audiences at Ballydoyle in Bloomingdale, and in various clubs and fests throughout the Chicagoland area this summer. Andrew is a singer/songwriter who is currently working with Jim Peterik of Survivor and Frank Pappalardo of Soundstage on his CD, It's Love, It's Fun, It's True. Inaugural Burger Throwdown to take place on Saturday, June 9 at 3 p.m.
How good are your homemade burgers? If you think they're restaurant worthy, Ballydoyle will give you an opportunity this Saturday to prove it. In its inaugural Ballydoyle Burger Throwdown on Saturday, June 9 at 3 p.m., amateur chefs will pit their burgers against each other, with the winner getting $100 dollars and their creation put on Ballydoyle's summer menu. Contestants will create two burgers for judging on-site by a panel of judges while audience members will get to eat mini versions of the contestants entries cooked by the Ballydoyle staff. For contestants, the entry fee is $25, while those who just want to eat the food can do so for $10. Ingredients for the burgers will be provided by Ballydoyle, but if you think you need something…

No way would I set foot in one of these taverns that have caused millions to be wasted on pointless "downtown" construction, that will hit all taxpayers this decade to pay for the bonds. 75th and Lemont stores generate more tax dollars than these shoppes and pubs.   more ›
