The state representative and state senator have each filed a resolution which would prohibit a person from holding office for more than 10 years.
State Sen. Ron Sandack’s (R-Downers Grove) resolution to impose 10-year term limits on Illinois Legislators was read into Senate record Tuesday, according to a press release from his office. “It’s high time we returned to a citizen legislature where citizen-servants attended to the business of the State and then returned home to their community," Sandack said in the release. "It is a privilege to serve. Being a member of the General Assembly should not be an opportunity to get connected or rich.” The resolution proposes a Constitutional Amendment to prohibit a person from holding office in the Illinois legislature for more than 10 years. Students from across the area can apply to work with Rep. Chris Nybo.
Chris Nybo is seeking legislative interns for the fall. Nybo, an Elmhurst Republican, is seeking high school and college applicants who are interested in gaining legislative and public policy experience. The internship program begins Sept. 1 and runs through Dec. 15. “The Legislative Intern Program provides a unique opportunity for community-minded individuals to learn more about state government, public policy and legislative affairs,” Nybo said in a press release. Participants in the legislative internship program will learn multiple skills, including office management, community relations, constituent communications, monitoring local issues, along with formulating and evaluating policy positions. Pihos, a resident of Glen Ellyn, was unable to attend the endorsement meeting.
Milton Township Republicans overwhelmingly endorsed Rep. Sandy Pihos of Glen Ellyn to fill the seat of Sen. Dan Cronin, who will resign from his position before the end of the month. The Milton Republicans met Wednesday night in a special endorsement meeting. Committeeman Dave Diersen said the township Republicans wanted to voice their opinion about who should be representing them in the coming legislative session. Cronin, an Elmhurst Republican, represents the 21st Senate District, which includes parts of Glen Ellyn and Wheaton. Cronin, who was in the middle of a four-year term, successfully ran for Chairman of the DuPage County Board earlier this month. He will have to resign his Senate seat before he is sworn in as chairman next month. …

Paul, First of all Senator Sandack didn’t end the death penalty. Gov. Ryan ended it over 10 years ago. SB2277, the bill Ron voted for, permits for the reallocation of the $110M per year we were spending to operate the death penalty system.
