Sandack Begins Fundraising Effort for House Race

Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford appeals to voters to send Sandack back to Springfield.

Money and support. That was what Sen. Ron Sandack told a group of about 50 supporters he needs from them to win the Republican nomination for House District 81 during a fundraiser Thursday night. “It’s hard to ask people for money, especially when we’re in such tough economic times, but that’s what it’s going to take,” Sandack said. Sandack also said he wants to create an army of volunteers to push his campaign into the general election. “Illinois is bankrupt. It is insolvent by any reasonable definition of that term. The news is bleak, but I believe it can get better,” Sandack said. During his address to supporters, Sandack said he wanted to stay in Springfield to continue to address the state’s financial crisis and make Illinois more job…

Sandack Mulling House Run

Senator tweets link to Daily Herald blog post.

State Sen. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) today tweeted his confirmation of a Daily Herald blog post suggesting he is considering a run for the Illinois House. "No drama, just thinking things through and weighing all options," he said via his @RonSandack Twitter account at about 3:45 p.m. He included a link to the Daily Herald's Suburban Political Recount blog by Mike Riopell and Kerry Lester. The post quotes Sandack as saying a House run is "one of the things on my radar." Sandack would be pitted against Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno of Lemont in the newly drawn 41st Senate district should he attempt to retain his current office, which he has held since November 2010. He was appointed to the Senate seat formerly held by DuPage…

Lawmakers Sound Off on Budget, Redistricting at Chamber Event

A lawsuit might not be far off.

Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-24th, Westmont) called political map drawing the root of all evil. Dillard, a Hinsdale Republican, was one of several legislators to speak to chamber of commerce members during a breakfast sponsored by the Elmhurst, Downers Grove and Lisle chambers. State lawmakers, including Dillard and fellow Sens. Ron Sandack (R-21st, Downers Grove), Christine Radogno (R-41st, Lemont) and John Millner (R-28th, Carol Stream), were joined by DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin at the Double Tree Hotel in Downers Grove to discuss the Illinois budget and new political maps. The legislative panel, all Republicans, was critical of the map drawing process. Because the new maps heavily favor Democratic candidates, Sandack called the maps the…
