Firefighter Pleads Not Guilty in Crash that Killed Downers Grove Woman

Pat Bruce, of Oak Forest, entered his plea Thursday in connection with a March 1 crash that killed Anasis Knox of Downers Grove, Sun-Times Media reports.

An Orland Park Fire Protection District lieutenant pleaded not guilty Thursday to felony reckless homicide and other driving charges in connection with an Oak Forest crash that killed a Downers Grove woman last month, Sun-Times Media reported. Firefighter Speeding, on Prescription Meds at Time of Fatal Crash: Prosecutor

Authorities said Lt. Pat Bruce was off duty and driving his personal vehicle in a crash that killed a 25-year-old Downers Grove woman Friday. He faces three charges in relation to the accident.

An Orland and Crestwood firefighter involved in a car crash that resulted in the death of a Downers Grove woman Friday in Unincorporated Cook County has been accused of driving while on prescription medication. Patrick Bruce, 45, of Oak Forest, was given a $250,000 bail Monday morning in court, according to Sun Times Media. Prosecutors said he was on a prescription medication, was driving about 25 mph over the posted limit and was weaving out of traffic lanes at the time of the accident, according to the report.  Bruce, an Orland Fire Lieutenant, was off duty and driving his personal vehicle at the time of the accident, according to Orland Park Fire Chief Ken Brucki. Downers Grove Woman Killed in Car Crash; Firefighter Charged with Reckless Homicide

Patrick Bruce, of Oak Forest, faces reckless homicide charges in a crash that killed 25-year-old Anasis Knox on Friday, according to reports.

An off-duty Orland and Crestwood firefighter has been charged in connection with a crash in unincorporated Cook County that killed a Downers Grove woman Friday. Patrick Bruce, 45, of Oak Forest, was driving a black Lincoln Navigator eastbound on 167th Street, near Oak Forest, around 1:40 p.m. when he struck a white SUV and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with an Oldsmobile, according to the Chicago Tribune. The driver of the Oldsmobile, 25-year-old Anasis Knox of Downers Grove, was transported to South Suburban Hospital and died later that day. A passenger in her vehicle was treated and released, according to reports.  Bruce was treated for minor injuries before being taken into custody, according to a Sun-Times Media report. Downers Grove Woman Gets 3 Years in Prison for Drunken Crash into Wheaton House

Allison Smolinski, 23, will return to prison for charges related to a January crash into a Wheaton home, injuring one, the Naperville Sun reports.

A Downers Grove woman charged in three accidents, including a crash into a Wheaton home in January, was convicted of a felony charge of aggravated DUI and sentenced to three years in prison in DuPage County court this week, according to the Naperville Sun. Allison Smolinski, 23, faced charges of aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm, leaving the scene of an accident, property damage and driving too fast for conditions after the Jan. 10 accident near the intersection of Farnham Lane and Huntleigh Street in Wheaton. According to a press release the Wheaton Police Department sent after the crash, Smolinski was ejected from her 1997 Nissan after it hit a tree and then the house.
