DARIEN -- Downers Grove South football coach John Belskis was succinct. "This is not the way a good football team plays," Belskis said after his Mustangs blanked Hinsdale South 27-0 on Friday night. The win was the fifth straight for Downers Grove South (5-2, 4-0) and came in the annual border war between the two schools for possession of the Rebel Cannon. And, yet, Belskis' point was hard to argue. The game was an inelegant affair at best, littered with penalties, sloppy play and an inconsistent effort from the Mustangs. They were rescued from their own mediocrity by a third-string tailback who hadn't played the position until this week.
