The chickens come home to roost. After gutting storm water management for years, you've stuck yourselves with this problem. Tax or utility, it costs money to keep the drainage systems functioning in DG, and your short sighted cost cutting in the 1990s has set up Downers Grove for flooding far worse than the 1987 floods.   more ›

Two incumbents and four challengers in the race for Downers Grove village council squared off last week in a forum hosted by the League of Women Voters. The forum, held March 26 at Downers Grove Village Hall, gave each of the candidates an opportunity to introduce themselves to voters and explain their positions on a number of key issues, including economic development, storm water management and human services. Incumbents Bob Barnett and Marilyn Schnell are seeking re-election to a second and sixth term, respectively. The four challengers—David S. The Downers Grove Professional Firefighters Association has thrown their support behind incumbents Bob Barnett and Marilyn Schnell and newcomer Greg Hosé.
The Downers Grove Professional Firefighters Association (DGPFFA) earlier this month announced its endorsement of village council candidates Bob Barnett, Marilyn Schnell and Greg Hosé. Unfortunately, that's a problem for a LOT of suburban communities in the collar counties. Somehow we just keep adding rules and more rules in some odd attempt at trying to create more order. All it does is create more chaos as people try to get around onerous rules. I would like to see a growing "less government, more results" movement in each of the suburban areas.   more ›
