The village and Creative Recycling will host a free recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 2, at Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave.
The Village of Downers Grove and Creative Recycling will team up Saturday to host a free electronics recycling event. From 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers will be on hand at Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave., to collect various electronic items that are banned from Illinois landfills. Accepted items include televisions, computers, laptops, monitors, printers, computer peripherals, VCR/DVD players, gaming systems and MP3 players. Downers Grove Village Hall is one of 12 sites designated for early voting through Nov. 3.
Early voting for the Nov. 6 general election ends Saturday at Downers Grove Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave., and several other area locations. All voters registered in DuPage County may vote early at any of the 12 designated polling places, now through Nov. 3. Voters must bring a government-issued photo ID such as a passport, driver's license or military ID. Voting will be conducted on ATM-like touch screens, according to the DuPage County Election Commission. More than 33,000 DuPage County voters have already cast their ballots in the Nov. 6 election. Through the weekend, a total of 33,668 DuPage residents participated in early voting at the county's 12 designated polling places, according to the DuPage County Election Commission. In Downers Grove, 4,294 registered voters had cast their ballots at Village Hall as of Saturday, officials said. As of Tuesday night, totals were not available for the week beginning Oct. 29. In Illinois, early voting started Oct. 22 and ends Nov. 3. The League of Women Voters of Downers Grove/Woodridge/Lisle will host a candidate forum Tuesday for the DuPage County Board and Forest Preserve District candidates in County District 2. The forum will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Downers Grove Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave. All candidates running for the DuPage County Board and Forest Preserve District in District 2 were invited. County board candidates in District 2 are Republicans Peter DiCianni, Sean Noonan and Elaine Zannis, and Democrat Elizabeth Chaplin.
