Water rates in Downers Grove are set to increase by about 18 percent beginning next month. Downers Grove residents can expect the current rate of $4.13 to jump to $4.89 on bills issued after March 1, according to village officials. The bi-monthly fixed charge will increase from $9.51 to $10.50. The new rates—approved by the Downers Grove Village Council in December—means the average homeowner's two-month bill of $71.26 will jump to $83.85, village officials said.
