Downers Grove Housing Market Shows Growth: October Home Sales

Downers Grove home sales jumped 26.7 percent in October 2012 from the number of sales in October 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.

The 38 Downers Grove homes sold in the month of October represented a 26.7 percent increase over October 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors. There were also 27 Downers Grove home sales in September. In addition, the median price of homes sold in October ($332,500) was 15.1 percent higher than the median price of homes sold in October 2011 ($289,000).  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout DuPage County saw growth in October, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data. Burr Ridge saw the largest percent increase, with 175 percent more homes sold year over year in October. Downers Grove Home Sales Fall as Chicago Area Hits Six-Year High

Downers Grove's real estate market took a dip in September as the bulk of the Chicago area saw a bump in year-over-year comparisons.

Home sales in the Chicago area during September were at a six-year high, according to a recent RE/MAX report—but it was a mixed bag if you were trying to sell property in DuPage County. The number of homes sold dropped in Burr Ridge, Darien, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn and Hinsdale in September 2012 compared to September 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). Downers Grove saw the number of homes sold fall by 18.2 percent (33 houses sold in September 2011 and 27 houses sold in September 2012). However, the average sale price actually increased 3.8 percent, from $318,459 to $330,607. The median sale price increased 8.7 percent, from $275,000 in 2011 to $299,000 in 2012.
