Elmhurst College running back Scottie Williams, a Woodridge native and 2009 graduate of Downers Grove South, has been announced as one of 10 finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy, the award that recognizes the most outstanding football player in NCAA Division III. Voting is now open for the trophy at d3football.com. The poll will remain open through Monday, Dec. 3. Named for St. John’s football coach John Gagliardi, the recently retired winningest coach in college football history with 489 wins, the Gagliardi Trophy has been awarded annually since the 1993 season, according to a press release. Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan said the state has a long way to go to get out of its current financial hole. However, he said legislators made a good start last year by cutting Gov. Pat Quinn’s proposed budget by $2 billion. Madigan made a rare public address to a forum at Elmhurst College and outlined some of the fiscal challenges facing the state, but he offered few election year remedies. Tuesday’s event was the fifth annual governmental forum held at Elmhurst College. Madigan used broad strokes to outline some of the economic concerns facing Illinois, including pension reform, state budget, workers compensation, unemployment and educational reform. I grew up in Elmhurst in the 60's and the Daniels family thru their weight around even then!!! The kids were priviledged morons! They over-shadowed everything in town including the YMCA where I hung out a lot! Arrogant assholes!!! Too bad things work the way they do in this country! None of the brothers were worth a crap!!
