IF A PERSON WANTED TO COMIT MASS MURDER THERE ARE MANY MORE EFFECTIVE WAYS WITHOUT THE USE OF AN ASSULT RIFLE. THE OKLAHOMA BOMBINGS FOR INSTANCE. AND TO USE THE ASSULTS ON CHILDREN AS A POLITICAL SOAP BOX IS TOTALY WRONG. TO SAY GUNS ARE THE CAUSE IS TOTALY INSANE. IT IS THE PERSON AND NOT THE GUN WHO DECIDES TO KILL ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. REMEMBER ANYTHING CAN AND HAS BEEN USED AS A WEAPON. ASK …   more ›

Dick's, Walmart Suspend Sales of Certain Firearms

The Newtown school shooting has spurred some retailers to suspend gun sales.

Christmas shopping for the outdoorsman may be a little different this year. Dick's Sporting Goods, which has Chicago-area locations in Lombard, Naperville, Orland Park, Tinley Park and Yorkville has suspended sales of semi-automatic weapons at its stores following the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, according to a report from CNN. Yes or No: Concealed Carry Law in Illinois?

Take our poll below and tell us where you stand on this issue.

On Tuesday, a U.S. appeals court ruled that Illinois' ban on carrying a weapon in public is unconstitutional. The General Assembly has given the state 180 days in which to "craft a new gun law that will impose reasonable limitations, consistent with the public safety and the Second Amendment as interpreted in this opinion, on the carrying of guns in public." Not everyone thinks concealed carry is a good idea, and there are arguments on boths sides. Those in favor say it's not only a constitutional right but a necessary one in a world where more and more criminals have guns and aren't afraid to use them. The playing gets a lot more equal when you don't know who has a gun and who doesn't. Those against, however, fear it would put too many …

YES, YES, YES!!!! With the appropriate training this should be okay. I have a friend who lives in Indiana and wears one everyday all the time. They are not going around shooting each other in a wild west like scenario. Illinois is riddled (pun intended) with gun violence. I can't fathom how allowing average citizens the RIGHT to carry a concealed weapon is going to turn things upside down, Let's …   more ›

Hi everyone, I'm the producer of the PatchCast that's generating this discussion. It certainly was never my intention to produce a one-sided story for the PatchCast roundup. After reading your comments and reviewing the show, I see why you felt that way. I used the only video available to me, but in hindsight, I should not have used it at all. You're right. Either both sides get video, or neither…   more ›
