It's not a rare achievement—after all, 65 percent of the school districts earn "Financial Recognition"—but it's nothing to be sneezed at either, considering the direction some other Illinois school districts are heading. Downers Grove Grade School District 58 was placed in Recognition, the highest financial designation in the Illinois State Board of Education’s annual Financial Profile, for fiscal year 2012, district officials announced this week. Eight schools in Downers Grove Grade School District 58 were recently recognized by state education officials for their exemplary performance on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test from 2010 to 2012. Belle Aire, Fairmount, Highland, Hillcrest, Kingsley, Lester, Pierce Downer and Whittier schools were among the 454 schools statewide to receive the Academic Excellence Award for 2012 by sustaining high performance levels on state assessments for at least three years, according to district officials.
