The next big winner could be drawn Saturday.
The big red Powerball rolled Wednesday night bringing the jackpot to $320 million for the Saturday, March 23 drawing. The winning numbers from Wednesday’s drawing were: 13 - 14 - 17 - 43 - 54 and the Powerball was 15. While no one won Wednesday night’s jackpot, over 68,000 Illinoisans won prizes ranging from $10,000 to $4, according to Illinois Lottery officials. Since Illinois introduced this multi-state lottery game, Powerball has contributed an estimated $120 million to the Illinois Common School Fund and Capital Projects Fund. By now, it's widely known that the winning Powerball tickets from Wednesday's $550 million drawing were sold in Arizona and Missouri. Those winning tickets matched all five numbers and the Powerball number. Each winner will receive about $293.7 million. However, right here in Illinois, two ticket holders matched all five numbers as well (not the Powerball number) and will receive $1 million each. Those tickets were sold at Casey's General Store in Fairmont and Barts Supermarket in Flanagan, according to the Illinois Lottery results page. The winning numbers are 5, 23, 16, 22, 29, 6. The Illinois Lottery's Powerball jackpot is set to reach $500 million, and the tickets are selling at a "blistering" pace, according to the Chicago Tribune. About $200,000 in lottery tickets were sold in just one 30-minute period Tuesday, according to the Trib, and sales are expected to peak as the Powerball drawing draws closer. It's the largest jackpot in Powerball history. The winners would take home $327.4 million in a lump sum.
