Downers Grove police have increased patrols around local grade schools after a woman allegedly tried to lure a boy to her vehicle during his walk to school. Police said they were notified around 8 a.m. Wednesday of the incident, which occurred near Grant Street and Downers Drive. Two grade school age girls were walking to school behind a young boy when they saw a woman driving a black SUV slow down and ask him if he wanted candy or a ride, police said. The boy refused and continued walking, and the vehicle left the area in an unknown direction. The young boy involved in the incident has not been identified, police said. Police released a sketch Thursday of a Hispanic man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, who allegedly tried to lure a 15-year-old girl to his vehicle while she was walking to school.
Downers Grove police are still searching for a man who allegedly tried to a lure a 15-year-old girl to his vehicle Thursday morning. Police said the girl was walking to school near Dunham Road and Concord Drive around 7:40 a.m. when a large, white SUV slowed and the male driver asked her to come to the vehicle. The girl continued walking and the vehicle followed her to the 6700 block of Dunham Road, where she changed directions and ran from the area, police said. The vehicle then left the area in an unknown direction. Police searched the surrounding area immediately after they were notified of the incident, but were unable to locate the described vehicle.
