SUNDAY, JULY 29 An approximate 18-inch section of metal piping was stolen from the underside of a car parked in a grocery store parking lot between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The car's owner—a store employee—turned on her car after work and noticed a loud noise coming from underneath. The stolen section of piping led to the car's catalytic converter. The value of the piping was estimated at $100. THURSDAY, JULY 26 Roughly $28,000 in electronic equipment were stolen from Omega Restaurant, 1300 Ogden Avenue, sometime between July 22 and July 26. Police were called to Omega on July 26 and spoke to the landlord who said he came to Omega on July 26 around 11 a.m. after going to court and being granted occupancy of the business. When he arrived, he noticed an exterior basement door unlocked and ajar, and found all of the restaurant's electronics missing. Among the missing items were a cash register, seven computers, six televisions, a metal safe, copy machine and security recorders. MONDAY, JULY 16 A 17-year-old teen was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer said he caught the teen throwing a glass pipe into the parking lot of BP on Belmont and Maple. The officer saw him fall on his skateboard and was attempting to give the teen gauze for his wounds and retrieve his skateboard when he said the teen tried to ditch the pipe. A wig, vacuum cleaner and one shoe were stolen from outside of an apartment door sometime overnight. The victim told police about the party, and when police spoke to the tenant who held the party, they said the vacuum cleaner was in his apartment. The tenant said he didn't take the vacuum and that it was in his apartment the morning after the party. He told police he'd call …

MONDAY, JULY 16 A manager at Steak and Shake, 1520 Ogden Ave., received about 70 prank calls to the restaurant's two lines between 12:15 a.m and 1:15 a.m. from young male callers making off-color comments and asking questions such as “Do you have grapes?”, “Do you have Battletoad burgers?” and “How do you count potatoes?” SUNDAY, JULY 15 A refrigerator, toilet and other items were tossed into a swimming pool at the Orchardbrook Clubhouse, 1089 35th St., sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. An employee of the clubhouse/pool who can see the pool from his house looked out of his window at 1:30 and noticed various items strewn about the pool area and called police. WEDNESDAY, JULY 11 A cyclist riding his bicycle down Fairview toward Brookside on the sidewalk approached the intersection and was almost hit by a green Mercedes SUV. Angry, the cyclist spit on the car and yelled at the driver. The cyclist kept riding but the driver drove up to the next block and got out. He gave the cyclist the finger and tried to push him off his bike, but the cyclist kept riding. The driver started to follow the biker trying to get him to fight, but left the area when the biker said he was calling the police. MONDAY, JULY 9 A three-wheeled scooter valued at $810 and a pellet pistol valued at $50 were stolen from a garage in the 6900 block of Parkview sometime overnight. SATURDAY, JUNE 9 Scott Blum, 25, of 1217 Hawkins, Downers Grove, and Christopher Doogan, 25, of 7756 Brunswick, Darien, were charged with urinating in public and disturbing the peace after allegedly urinating behind a garbage dumpster outside of a residence in the 1000 block of Curtiss around 2 a.m. After being told to stop urinating by residents, the two intoxicated men became belligerent, hostile and verbally abusive, according to police. A total of 28 fragrances valued at $1,890 were stolen from Ulta, 1310 75th Street, by three women, according to security footage. The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department: Retail Theft Thirty-three various Olay brand body lotions valued at $745.17 were stolen by two unknown offenders from the CVS on Main on May 15. Burglary from Motor Vehicle Police responding to a call of burglary to a motor vehicle on May 7 around 2:15 a.m. in the 7400 block of Main. Police checked the area and quickly came across a 17-year-old male searching through the center console of a second car. When approached, the teen backed out of the car, bent over, and put his hands behind his back without being prompted. The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department: Drug Investigation Nicola Lostumbo, 18, of 507 61st Street in Westmont, was charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance after a “Schedule 2” type narcotic pill was found in his backpack at DGS on May 7. Lostumbo and two other kids were initially stopped for leaving campus and coming back, and a subsequent search of Lostumbo's bag turned up a baggie with a small while pill inside labeled “alza36”. Research into the drug discovered it is a form of ADHD medication also known as “Concerta”. The pill was listed as a narcotic and highly abusive. The other two kids with Lostumbo said they left campus to go to McDonald's. …
