Very Interesting Person: Greg Ktistou, Pro Basketball Player

Downers Grove resident Greg Ktistou juggles playing basketball in Europe and running a skills development business locally.

Greg Ktistou is at a crossroads. Unlike many metaphorical crossroads, though, whichever road Ktistou chooses will lead to him living out his dreams. Born and raised in Downers Grove, 32-year-old Ktistou just finished his 7th year of playing professional basketball in Europe. Within a couple of weeks, he'll find out whether he'll return for an eighth. If he does, it'll mean a higher level of competition. I've known Greg since we were both five years old. As a kid and teen, he always had a basketball with him. He has so much heart. Greg teaching kids to practice their skills just makes so much sense.   more ›

If it happens downtown, she either knows about it or she's responsible for it. Linda Kunze, the executive director of the Downtown Management Corporation, knows the ins-and-outs of the downtown area better than anyone else around. She has to—it's her job. Since 1999 Linda has been the woman responsible for keeping the downtown vibrant and stocked with restaurants and shops the residents of Downers Grove want. She works tirelessly, sometimes starting her day at 7:30 a.m. and wrapping up at 10 p.m. recruiting businesses, organizing downtown events, and managing all aspects of the downtown area.
