Delta Development is hosting a town hall meeting Thursday night to discuss a possible sheltered care facility for seniors at 4200 Lacey Road—three months after withdrawing a similar proposal for 63rd Street.
A local developer is making its fourth attempt to build a supportive living facility in Downers Grove. Representatives from Delta Development will hold a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday to discuss their proposal to build a sheltered care facility for seniors on a wooded lot at 4200 Lacey Road, just north of Ogden Avenue near Interstates 88 and 355. A flyer for the meeting states that Delta is looking for feedback from neighbors on various aspects of the facility. As of Tuesday, Delta has submitted only a partially-completed application for the project, according to Doug Kozlowski, communications director for the village of Downers Grove. A petition to build a senior living facility in Downers Grove has been withdrawn, village officials confirmed late Friday. The petitioner, Delta Development of Downers Grove, had hoped to construct a three-story, 94,840-square-foot supportive living facility on 63rd Street between Main Street and Fairmount Avenue. The proposal went before the Downers Grove plan commission Jan. 28, but was put on hold as the meeting reached its fifth hour. The decision to adjourn was prompted in part by a resident's testimony regarding a restrictive covenant that limits lots in the subdivision to only single-family homes. A proposal to build a senior living facility in Downers Grove has been put on hold until later this month as developers work to quell concerns raised by village officials and neighborhood residents. More than 100 people attended a nearly five-hour planning and zoning meeting Monday night to hear Delta Development's proposal to build a three-story, 94,840-square-foot supportive living facility at 715-817 63rd St. between Main Street and Fairmount Avenue.
