ReplyIt's a shame a wonderful story about our children and schools gets pushed down to the middle of the sidebar while a week-old story about a chicken ordinance that has already been voted on continues to be put at the top of the page. It's stories like this that make me happy I chose Downers Grove as a town to raise my children; not only that, it also shows how our tax dollars are being used.

ReplyI don't think a store selling frilly underthings and scented lotion marks the downfall of our fair city, but I've been wrong before.

I know Lisle has at least one. I was looking for a massage -- the kind they give at Mario Triccoci, not the kind you're talking about -- and I came across a listing for a Lisle massage parlor that made me wish for the kind of eye wash station they had in my high school chemistry lab. Please don't ask me the name because I've forgotten and there's no way I'm Googling THAT again.

ReplyI hate to pile on commissioner Waldack, since so many people enjoy using him as a punching bag, but I also agree with Mayor Tully. I don't want to have to know the answer to questions like "how much chicken poop would threaten our sewer system?"

There are more good people than evil ones! If they don't get it back, let's all chip in and buy them a new one! Or maybe all the other churches in DG can buy one figure to show we all stand in solidarity!

I understand what you're saying, Mr. F. Take the issue of the wholesomeness of chickens and eggs and such out of the picture, should people be allowed to not follow an ordinance, and then try to hurry up and change said ordinance once they get caught? If you feel an ordinance/regulation is unfair or wrong, isn't the proper procedure to try to change the ordinance first? Not simply flout it?

I don't disagree with your main point, Mr. Burket. But we DID get days off in 1979. In fact, my dad couldn't even get to work and I remember him pulling me on a sled to the grocery store to buy milk. But that snow fell so quickly and so thickly that plows couldn't keep up; that was not the case with yesterday's snowfall. The roads were perfectly usable, and "fun" is no reason to close schools, especially after the kids just had a four-day weekend.
