Downers Grove's Dupage Inn Sells Winning $275,000 Lotto Ticket

Lisle resident Dennis Murphy won $250,000 after matching all five numbers on a Lucky Day Lotto ticket Sept. 23.

A Lisle man won $275,000 last month after matching five numbers on a Lucky Day Lotto ticket sold at a Downers Grove bar and grill.

Dennis Murphy, 65, purchased the ticket at DuPage Inn, 2410 W. Ogden Ave. He won after matching all five numbers—08, 09, 17, 18 and 20—in the Sept. 23 drawing, according to the Illinois Lottery.

“I can’t believe I won $275,000 with a $1 Quick Pick!” Murphy told Illinois Lottery staff when he presented his winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines.

Murphy has lived in Lisle for 25 years. He works as a handyman and plans to retire next year.

“Investing this windfall will make my retirement much easier,” Murphy said in a statement.

DuPage Inn will receive a $2,750 bonus—equal to 1 percent of the prize amount—for selling the winning ticket, according to the Illinois Lottery.

This marks the second big prize-winning ticket sold recently at the DuPage Inn. In June, one of the retailer's waitresses hit the $4 million jackpot on a $20 "50x The Cash" ticket she purchased after her shift.

DuPage Inn received a $40,000 bonus as a result.

According to the Illinois Lottery, two $275,000 winning tickets shared the $550,000 Lucky Day Lotto jackpot on Sept. 23. The other winning ticket, which was not a Quick Pick, was purchased at Columbia Mart, located at 506 N. Main St. in Columbia.
